Very sad news of the passing of Brian Sandberg, Coordinator of the Neil Aggett Support Group

Last week we received news of postings on Brian Sandberg's Facebook page suggesting that Brian had passed away. Brian was the founder and coordinator of the Neil Aggett Support Group.

In the first week of April this year, Brian was in Grahamstown for the launch of the Neil Aggett Labour Studies Unit in the Institute for Social and Economic Research at Rhodes University.

That gathering brought together the widely dispersed activists involved in the Neil Aggett Support Group with its task of working for justice for Neil Aggett. In many ways this could be seen as the culmination of the incredible work Brian did towards keeping the issues that Neil himself had stood for, alive in South Africa and across the world.

Brian developed a serious chest infection following his visit to Grahamstown and we fear that it was this infection that seems to have claimed his life.

Attached is one of Brian's last entries on his Facebook page.

We are deeply saddened by this news. We are so grateful for the work Brian did to keep awareness of Neil's life and commitment alive in South Africa.

Hambla Kahle, dear friend and colleague.
