Khulumani initiates its programme of offering access to HIV testing, counselling and support on World AIDS Day 2017 (1 December) to people in the Johannesburg City Centre Featured

During 2017, the staff of Khulumani Support Group’s National Contact Centre have been involved with NACOSA (Networking HIV / AIDS Communities in South Africa) as a Community Systems Strengthening Partner. This has provided for the training and accredited of Khulumani youth activists as HTS (HIV testing, counselling, awareness and support) service providers.

From 1 December 2017, Khulumani will be offering the following services at its offices:

  • Pre- and Post-Counselling
  • HIV testing
  • Condom Distribution
  • Prevention of HIV Spread
  • PMTC advice (preventing mother-to-child transmission)
  • HIV, STI & TB Awareness
  • Referrals
  • Support Groups

Khuluman joins the call for everyone to have conversations that will raise awareness of the continuing vulnerability especially of girls and young women amongst whom the incidence of HIV infection is increasing despite the country’s advances in confronting the epidemic.

Let’s all have these conversations to end the stigma so that everyone gets tested and starts anti-retroviral treatment at the earliest opportunity.
