Daimler rejects any complicity in apartheid

Daimler logoDaimler rejected allegations of complicity with the former apartheid regime, a spokeswoman said yesterday, calling the charges "inadmissible and unfounded". A New York court is to consider a case brought by a human rights group against Daimler, IBM, Ford, General Motors and German industrial and defence group RheinMetall. Daimler felt US authorities had no jurisdiction in the case, she said. The German car maker argued it had co-operated with the Truth and Reconciliation Commission and had "nothing to reproach itself" for. - Sapa-AFP
