2013 Neil Aggett Memorial Lecture, Kingswood College to be delivered by Jay Naidoo on Friday 13 September 2013: A Life Remembered –

On Friday, September 13, 2013, Jay Naidoo, Chair of the Board of Directors and of the Partnership Council of the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN), and a former General Secretary of COSATU, will be the guest speaker at this year’s Neil Aggett Memorial Lecture, taking place at Kingswood College, Neil’s former school, at 10:00.

Jay Naidoo will focus his message on reflections on “What would my inspiration, Steve Biko, my dear friends and comrades Chris Hani and Neil Aggett say about the democracy they died for today? With growing instability among our working classes, as anger mounts as leadership becomes ever more disconnected from their base, we should really sit back and ask if this is the future for which Neil Aggett was murdered by Apartheid police? ”

The event will also feature an announcement of the Neil Aggett Memorial Medicins Sans Frontiers Unit and the efforts of the Neil Aggett Support Group to bring a successful prosecution of Neil’s torturers. Jay has also indicated that he will use the opportunity to recognize the important work Khulumani are doing to address past injustices.
