Workshop AttendeesOn October 21 and 22, 2015, Carol Nhlapo and Tendaishe Tlou attended the HURISA organised workshop on the Africa Human Rights system and its access for civil society organisations.
Africa Human Rights Day is the day on which the African Charter on Human and Peoples’ Rights (ACHPR) came into force in 1986 as a legally enforceable instrument for the promotion and protection of human rights within the African continent.
The workshop learned about the protocol that had facilitated the creation of the African Court on Human and Peoples’ Rights with the purpose of resolving cases and disputes referred to it by the African Commission.
Khulumani’s Carol Nhlapo served as one of the rapporteurs for the meeting.
The workshop concluded with a review of the human rights situation within the Southern African Development Community (SADC)
